This is an in depth look at both C# and the .NET 3.5 framework. In fact, the book is split into two distinct sections; one covering each of the previously mentioned.
Having read entry-level books that talk about 'how' to do things, reading this book I became massively immersed in the 'what' - what is actually going on inside the computer as I am programming away and running my applications.
Whilst I wouldn't recommend this book to an absolute beginner, I would to anyone who has been programming for at least 4 - 5 months. I can almost certainly say, that to the novice C#/.NET programmer, you will definitely broaden your horizons on these topics in a functional way.
Considerable weight is shared across your palms as you carry this book around - it's a massive 1200+ pages and in hefty hardback. But your reward for reading is an insight into all things .NET, including ASP.NET, WPF, WCF and, of course, a huge deal more.
Go and get it! (Well, the new version covering .NET 4.0).
